July 15, 2008 is a date that will live in the otherwise hollow catacombs of my mind forever. Arguably the best MLB All-Star Game ever was played in Yankee Stadium. I had 2 “MVP Box” seats in the third row of the first tier...a view that Mr. & Mrs. Carlos Ramos thoroughly enjoyed as I lay in bed in my hotel on 7th Avenue with arguably the worst toothache of my life. Warren Dixon and Ramon Ortiz catered to my every need- they even gave me a beautiful print of Yankee Stadium, but they could NOT STOP MY CRYING AND SOBBING as the baseball world passed me by.
By now many of you have figured out my egregious error in last month’s column. On Page 20 was a picture of Emma Bass and Tricia Kestner, a wonderful girl whose name I wrote I could not remember. Then on page 22 was a picture of Linda Taylor’s granddaughter whose name, said I, was Tricia Kestner. While attending a GLAF event I saw Tricia and asked her name...she proceeded to explain my 2 mistakes. Both pictures can be seen again this month with proper cut lines. Someone said that as you age you lose 3 things: your memory...and...I forget the other two.
Next to Lakeside Creamery (home of delicious and fresh ice cream) is Sacred Ground...Southwest gifts, jewelry, paintings, souvenirs and much more ...stop by, feel the ambience and browse.
I saw Shane Grady of Four All Seasons Gifts and Grand Central Station last month...he was practicing some new break-dancing moves. At Four All Seasons you will find a huge selection of gifts and souvenirs, and, of course, Grand Central Station is well known for its vast inventory of furniture.
I got some wonderful tomatoes and strawberries from Garrett Country Market in Accident...where you will find a large variety of organic fruits, vegetables, meats and more...worth the trip.
Did I mention that they were box seats with an amazing view?
Until next month when we celebrate the autumnal equinox (I know my science)...see you on The Lake-Front!
