A free history talk exploring 250 years of agriculture, cooking and food in Garrett County and the surrounding region will be held Thursday, Sept. 17, at 6 p.m. at Garrett College.
Presented by George Cowgill and the Garrett County Historical Society in recognition of America’s 250th anniversary, the 1.5-hour program will offer a light-hearted look at how agriculture, cooking and food have changed over the past 250 years.
The photo-oriented presentation will highlight historical developments and stories, both large and small, with a particular focus on Garrett County and neighboring counties.
Adding a taste of history to the evening, bakers from Ace’s Run will prepare samples of local historical recipes for participants to enjoy just prior to the presentation.
The program is free, but registration is required and seating is limited.
