Anyone who comes to Deep Creek Lake, whether for a week or an hour, usually ends up at Arrowhead Market. Arrowhead is literally “your everything market”. Here you can find food, liquor, wine and beer, dessert, a quick lunch, plus stuff for your boat, your backyard barbecue, health and beauty items…even fresh squeezed orange juice. Arrowhead Market is one stop shopping done right.
Arrowhead has a rich history. The store was founded in August of 1981. Although the building itself had been there for many years, it had always been occupied by several short-lived businesses. The Deligatti family of Pittsburgh knew the Deep Creek area needed an eclectic and unique shopping experience to match the diversity of visitors and locals in the area…a place where you could pick up a forgotten staple for dinner on your way home from work or do your shopping for a weekend at the lake.
It has seen many changes through the years and undergone several expansions that brought the space from 750 to over 6500 square feet. It originally began as a grocery and deli but over the years has added other services including gasoline, lottery, mail services and hot food. Although this store is incredibly convenient, they consider themselves to be a small grocery store, and as the needs of the area and its residents and visitors evolve, so has the store.
They make the most of their square footage, offering a large variety of items in a compact space. Upon entering the store, you’ll find a nice selection of the most popular wines and liquors available…plus all the mixers you could need. Their “Beer Cave” holds all your favorite domestic, imported and craft beers available…nice and cold and ready to take to your home or load onto the boat (they also have coolers and ice available for sale!) Can’t decide which beer to buy? One of their most popular features is the “Mix and Match” option where you can choose from a large variety of select beers to create your own six pack…a perfect way to try something new or please a picky crowd.
The main part of the store houses their grocery section where you can find everything from pantry staples to fresh fruit and vegetables and everything in between. They have a large frozen food section with great pre-packaged meals, frozen vegetables and a terrific selection of ice cream and other frozen treats – even ice cream cakes to celebrate those special occasions!
At the far end of the store is their hot foods counter which features a delicious array of tempting treats for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They offer breakfast sandwiches, panini, toasted subs and Pittsburgh style sandwiches overstuffed with your favorite meats, cole slaw and French fries. They have Daily lunch specials Monday through Friday. Their newest feature is on Wednesday when they have a delicious chicken sandwich marinated, then deep fried to perfection. Cheeseburger Thursdays remain a favorite as well.
They also have pizza, chicken tenders, soups, salads, and more. At the deli counter, you can create your own sandwich on your choice of sourdough, onion or Kaiser rolls in addition to traditional bread choices like white, whole wheat and rye bread.
In their latest remodel they even added a small section where you can sit and enjoy your meal and enjoy a little television or take your meal outside to one of their picnic tables and enjoy the day. They even have a late night menu available from 9 PM to 3 AM which includes pizza, rotisserie chicken, steak and cheese subs and more
In a hurry? Check out their “Grab ‘n Go” section in the front where you’ll find small packages of meat and cheese, yogurt cups, and premade sandwiches and wraps, made fresh each day. Don’t forget to pick up some of their delicious homemade pepperoni rolls and freshly baked cinnamon rolls. No trip to Deep Creek Lake is complete without them.
Need your caffeine fix? They have over 10 varieties of coffee in addition to all your favorite soft drinks. Be sure to join their “Beverage Club” to get every sixth drink free (card required). Includes coffee, soft drinks, slushies, and hot chocolate.
Arrowhead now offers freshly squeezed orange juice for a delicious way to get your vitamin C. It’s a great addition to your breakfast routine (or for yummy Mimosas at Brunch).
