August 2024 Issue

Dear Friends,

August! Wow, summer is flying by. I hope you are enjoying every single second. Busy deadlines and a lingering head cold (thanks to my youngest grandson) kept me sidelined a bit in July, but thankfully, there are still tons of events and activities going on to wind up summer fun.

Our Calendar of Events starts on Page 14 and features a wide variety of unique events for all members of the family including a floatilla and parade (part of the Friendsville Days celebration), a Dragon Boat competition, festivals, and so much more.

Not sure where to start? Whether it’s dining, shopping, or live music, our Guides can help. Starting on Page 82, they give you the ‘lowdown’ on everything Deep Creek. Our Live Music guide is chock-full of music for everyone…from rock and roll to classical. Most musical events are outside and free…and a great way to enjoy these last snippets of summer.

Collen and Michael have been hard at work bringing more feature content your way. Check out their stories on a truly unique Garrett County charity (It’s in the Bag) on Page 6, the upcoming Women’s Equality Day program (Page 77) plus Michael’s look at two wonderful Unsung Heroes. (Page 48.)

Enjoy the summer!
