Wednesday, July 3
Broadford Park Fireworks & Concert — Broadford Lake Park, Oakland, 7:30 PM. The Community Concert Band and an octet of singers from the Choral Society will be on hand performing at Pavilion #1. At dusk, the American fireworks Company presents “A Fireworks Spectacular”. Rain date is July 5th. Admission is $3 per person, children 8 and under $1. www.oaklandmd.com

Stage Wisp Outdoor Concert Series — Hillbilly Gypsies, Wisp Resort, 6 PM. Kicking off our 2019 Outdoor Stage Wisp Concert Series. Food and beverage, including alcohol will be for sale on the patio at Wispers Bar & Grill. Also a great time to pick up fresh local food and gifts from our Farmer’s Market / Art Market during the show. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs and a blanket. Thursday, July 4
Accident Fourth of July Homecoming & Parade — Enjoy this old fashioned celebration in one of Garrett County’s unique small towns. Begins at 9 AM with a patriotic program, parade at 11 AM, followed by arts & crafts, food, games and historic tours at the Fire Department. Fire on the Mountain Fireworks Display– Wisp Resort and surrounding areas, dusk. The Garrettt County Chamber of Commerce presents the annual Fire on the Mountain Fireworks Display. Fireworks launched from the top of the tubing hill at the Mountain Park at Wisp Resort out toward the waters of Deep creek Lake. Viewing spots include the scenic overlook on Rt. 219, McHenry Cove on Deep Creek Lake and businesses in McHenry. Roots’ One Year Anniversary Block Party – Garrett County Chamber of Commerce will hold a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Friday, July 5, 2019 at Roots! The celebration will continue as Roots welcomes clients and guests to their Grand Re-Opening at the new location and one-year Anniversary Block Party with their neighbors, Cashmere Clothing Co.. (also celebrating their Grand Opening) and Gourmet & More (of Schoolhouse Earth.)

Entertainment will be provided by The Terah Crawford Band crooners, Terah B. Beitzel-Crawford and Scott Alexander Music from 4-6pm. Light refreshments will be offered by all the businesses participating on the “Block”, and door prizes and gift card drawings will be held!

Top off the evening by attending the 80’s Night Blacklight Party, hosted by Roots later that evening at 7:30! Join us as we celebrate the 25th annual presentation of Chautauqua in Maryland by returning to its original home in Mountain Lake Park. This three day event features living history presentations, Chautauqua period music and historic home tours topped off with the Maryland Humanities presentation of Matthew Henson, explorer, craftsman & author. Saturday Morning Artist Demos – The Gallery Shop, Oakland, 10:30 – Noon. Come in and see one of the Gallery Shop’s artists at work! Chat about techniques, ask questions, and get to know one of our artisans. July 6th’s artist will be Georgia Johnson demonstrating Basket Weaving. Free admission. Chautauqua: Then and Now — Mountain Lake Park, various locations, 10 AM to 9 PM. Join us as we celebrate the 25th annual presentation of Chautauqua in Maryland by returning to its original home in Mountain Lake Park. This three day event features living history presentations, Chautauqua period music and historic home tours topped off with the Maryland Humanities presentation of Jacques Cousteau, oceanographer, filmmaker and scientist.. Deep Creek Lions Boat Parade — Deep Creek Lake, 7 – 9 PM. This fun annual event will begin from the McHenry Cove and will proceed in single file past a number of judging stations along the route. Spectators at the judging stations will vote for their favorite boats, and prizes will be awarded in a number of categories, with a Grand Prize consisting of a custom – designed Winner’s Pennant and trophy with $100s of dollars of other prizes including gift cards, sports memorabilia and more! Entrants in the parade will need to pay a minimum $50 registration fee, and the number of entries are limited so be sure to register early. Other non-profits can enter their boats and all the funds they raise (including on-shore and online “votes” are theirs to keep!) $100 Business Entry Fee. Greg Latta Concert — New Germany State Park Lakehouse, 7 – 9 PM (rain or shine). Proficient on more than 15 instruments, Latta is an award-winning singer/songwriters. He will perform Appalachian, Irish, old-time and traditional music. Free admission, kid friendly. Hosted by Friends of New Germany State Park.
