The State Farm name is synonymous with insurance, and more importantly, with exceptional customer service. Founded in 1922, State Farm will celebrate its 100th Anniversary next year. It went from a single-line auto insurance agency to the 36th largest company on the Forbes 500 list. State Farm has a storied reputation in our area as well, operating for 45 years under well-known local legend Rob Michael who had an office in Oakland.
After his retirement, Rob’s impressive client list was split by two agents including David Jochynek, who opened his office in February of this year. Originally from Washington County, PA, David had been an apprentice with State Farm for the past few years in both Washington, PA and Grand Junction, CO.
There are many insurance companies, but David is proud to be a State Farm representative. He explains, “State Farm goes above and beyond to make communication easy for their clients. Many people like knowing they can pick up the phone and talk to an agent directly, while others prefer the accessibility of online service. State Farm offers both.”
With over 19,000 offices across the United States, State Farm offers over 100 products and services to their customers including property, casualty, life and health insurance, along with annuities and other financial services.
Because we all want to protect our assets, having the right insurance is key. “Basically, we’re here to protect everything that is important to you. More importantly, the more services you bundle together, the more money you can save,” says David. “Because we work closely with you, we can better anticipate your needs,” he adds.
David is ably surrounded by a team of experts including Office Manager Amy Hartung-Jones, who began with Rob Michael in 1984 and is excited to be working with David now. She is licensed in property and casualty insurance along with life and health. Holley Slone is the Account Manager for the agency. Originally from Ohio, Holley has lived in Garrett County since 2011 and has been licensed for over ten years. Rounding out the team is Ladonna Kaczorowski, who also holds licenses in property, casualty, life and health insurance. Together, they have a combined 45 plus years of experience in the insurance industry.
State Farm doesn’t only offer insurance on your home and automobiles. They can also protect your boats, RV’s, ATV’s and more. In addition to basic health insurance, they offer long and short-term disability insurance that can pay you directly for medical related expenses including towards a high deductible or other bills that may accumulate while you are hospitalized or laid up. Turning 65 soon? Talk to David or his team about Medicare supplemental insurance. “Although some of our policies can seem a little more expensive at first look, most will save you money in the long term,” explains David.
Life insurance is an important component of family planning, and State Farm offers both whole life and term insurance policies. If traditional insurance policies don’t make sense to you, try one of their new Limited Pay policies in which you pick the term you want to pay — either 10, 15 or 20 years — but the policy continues to earn dividends until your death. They also offer Return of Premium policies which are more budget friendly, and David and his team also offer free retirement planning for their customers.
David and his entire team are licensed in Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia and can bundle any of your insurance policies, whether it be for primary or secondary boats, ATV’s, motorcycles, jet skis and more. If your primary home is in Pennsylvania but you own a second home in Garrett County, David can insure both at significant savings.
David, his wife Sabrina and their almost two-year-old son Dean currently live in Bruceton Mills, WV but are plannign to move to Oakland in the near future. David is excited to be part of the community and looks forward to continuing some of the area traditions for which the Oakland State Farm Office has always been known.
Since opening , David immediately took advantage of becoming a member of the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce, as he wanted to immerse himself in the local business climate and familiarize himself with the business folks and opportunities in our county. He has participated in several ribbon cutting ceremonies of new businesses to encourage their entrepreneurship. Furthering his community involvement, he supported an evening with Crandall Creek Band at the Little Yough Music Festival in Oakland, MD. He and his team enjoyed both the music and their mingling with both the locals and the tourists attending that wonderful event. In addition, he and his team attended this year’s return of the Autumn Glory parade (enjoyed it immensely) and set up a tent of “giftables” to distribute to the hearty souls attending the parade. The same day Garrett County Animal Shelter put out a plea for dog biscuits, David responded by immediately providing over 50 pounds of “ McCoy” (David’s dog) approved dog biscuits, delivering them in person and enjoying a tour of the facility and greeting some of its four-footed residents. He also was a co-sponsor of and participated in two Car & Ice Cream Events and enjoyed seeing the antique and classy cars as well as chatting with the proud folks who owned them. He further reports that the ice cream was delicious! David was thrilled to be able to support Our Town Theater and was honored to attend their opening show “Hate Mail” after their COVID hiatus. He is eager to see what the year 2022 will offer to further his community involvement.
