January 2026 Issue
Dear Friends,
January always feels like the real start of winter in the mountains. Lately, I’ve been thinking about an old memory, and I’m not even sure if it’s completely accurate. I swear there was a time when you could grab a McDonald’s value meal and somehow get a discounted ski ticket along with it. Maybe it was real. Maybe it was just a kid’s memory.
But, that’s what January is about. Fewer crowds. More routine. Locals’ rhythms returning. The season settles in, and winter becomes something you live with, not just visit.
Here’s to snow-covered mornings, well-worn gloves, familiar faces, and the quiet magic that only shows up once the holidays are over.
And seriously—does anyone else remember that deal?
Cheers,
