Enjoy the beauty of the fall season in the mountains as Garrett County, Maryland celebrates the 54th anniversary of their annual Autumn Glory Festival with two large parades, live music, band competitions, antique and craft shows, fall foliage tours and much more from October 13 – 17, 2021. Throughout the festival, enjoy a local turkey dinner with our 2021 Turkey Trail. More than a decade before the Autumn Glory Festival became an annual event, a group of turkey growers organized and promoted community turkey dinners. The idea of a large festival to attract visitors to the area led to the start of the Autumn Glory Festival. Today, more than 50 years later, turkey dinners are still a favorite tradition of the festival.

The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce’s annual Autumn Glory Kickoff Dinner & Reception, featuring networking, dinner and a recognition of the annual Autumn Glory Golden Ambassador, will kick off the festival on Wednesday, October 13.

Thursday features an Oktoberfest dinner, oompah band and a fireman’s parade. The Official Maryland State Banjo & Mandolin Championships, Friday at 7 p.m., features banjo and mandolin contestants of all ages competing for top honors.

On Saturday, October 16, Oakland’s Autumn Glory Grand Feature Parade, sponsored by First United Bank & Trust, begins at 1 p.m. with over 100 units including bands, clowns, antique vehicles and unique vehicles. Southern Garrett High School hosts not only the Western Maryland Tournament of Bands Saturday at 6 p.m. with a high school field show competition, but also the Official Maryland State Fiddle Championship at 7 p.m. at Southern High School.

Antique and Craft shows continue Sunday along with the Autumn Glory Festival Car Show in downtown Oakland featuring a variety of classic cars, motorcycles, trucks, tractors from 9 am – 3 pm.

Additional festival activities include historic tours, antique/craft shows, farmers’ market, quilt show, corn maze, dining specials, horseback trail rides, shopping specials and a wide variety of other activities.
