May 2025 Issue
May has arrived and with it some spring weather…finally! The plants and trees are blooming, docks are going in around the lake, and a definite hint of summer is in the air! The Deep Creek Lake Centennial year long celebration continues as Collen DuBose takes a look at some of the Deep Creek landmarks that aren’t here anymore. Read his article starting on Page 6 and check out their website for updated events at www.dcl100.com.
Collen Du Bose and Mike Fratz have submitted several stories this month: a look at Unsung Heroes at Cherry Hill Assisted Living (page 44), the original Deep Creek Polar Bear Gus Brinker (Page 40); as well as Spotlights on two local businesses: The Painted Cupboard, celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year, and our neighbor to the north, Baker’s Home and Garden Center, both must-sees for your spring shopping, both indoor and out.
As the weather heats up, you’ll find lots more going on in the area, from fund-raising events to live music all around the county. Check out our Calendar of Events beginning on Page 16, and our Live Music Guide on Page 92. Our What’s Happening pages also feature more information on some popular area events, so be sure to check them out. So much to read and do this month! As always, whatever your pleasure this month, Enjoy!
