The Mountain Maryland Gateway to the West Heritage Area is excited to announce the launch of their newly redesigned Heritage Area website. New features include an easy-to-use navigation with tools to assist visitors and residents discover heritage area themes, view the Heritage Area map, explore historical and cultural resources, view virtual tours, find heritage events, learn about funding opportunities and more. Visitors from outside of the Heritage Area can use the online tools to find lodging, dining, shopping, group itineraries and utilize the trip builder to plan their visit. They can also access the Deep Creek Virtual Reality Experience and 360-degree videos.

About the Mountain Maryland Gateway to the West Heritage Area
The Mountain Maryland Gateway to the West Heritage Area is one of 13 Heritage Areas certified by the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority (MHAA), a program of the Maryland Historical Trust. Established in September of 2011 and managed by the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce, the Mountain Maryland Gateway to the West Heritage Area’s mission is to engage public and private partners in the commitment to preserve historical, cultural and natural resources for sustainable economic development through heritage tourism.

The Garrett County Chamber of Commerce is the largest professional business association in the region with 600 members representing every industry in the community. The mission of the Chamber is to organize, support and represent Garrett County’s business community in advancing common interests and additionally to promote Garrett County’s hospitality and recreation industry by attracting visitors to the county through comprehensive marketing. The Garrett County Chamber also serves as the Destination Marketing Organization and Heritage Area Management entity for the County.
