November 2024 Issue
Dear Friends,
What a wonderful October. The weather has been nearly perfect (although we are in desperate need of rain) and the trees are still showing off some of her colors. The 57th Autumn Glory Festival was a huge success and the highlight for me, was watching my dear friends Martin Heise and Brenda McDonnell being named as the 2024 Autumn Glory Golden Ambassadors. So well deserved from these two hard-working, community minded people. See their story on Page 24.
November brings a few weeks of quiet before we start gearing up for the holidays, officially beginning on the mountain Thanksgiving weekend. The highlight of the weekend, as always, is the annual Festival of Trees held at the Fairgrounds on Friday & Saturday, Nov 29 & 30. It’s a tradition for my family to enjoy Breakfast with Santa, stroll through the beautifully decorated trees, and watch my grandsons enjoy all the fun happenings. Don’t miss it! See the story on Page 6 for more information.
Other Thanksgiving weekend events include Tree Lightings at the Honi-Honi at the Lake and in downtown Oakland plus a few craft shows and much more. See our Calendar of Events beginning on Page 14 for more information.
If you’re thinking ahead to holiday shopping, Collen DuBose talks about technology he can’t live without on Page 54…maybe he’ll give you some ideas.
Whatever your pleasure this November….Enjoy!
