The town of Oakland is gearing up for their 13th Annual Winter Fest on February 15th, 2020. In addition to masterful ice carvings, family activities and more, organizers will be bringing back our successful Winter Fest Wine Walk. Held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors to the event will be able to purchase a ticket for $15 behind the gazebo downtown and sample approximately 12 different wines from six tasting areas around the downtown area.

There will be lots of activities for the family! Bill Sandusky of Erie Ice Works, LLC returns to Oakland with his talents as Master Ice Carver. The ever popular “ice chair” sponsored by Garrett Regional Medical Center and “ice slide” sponsored by GMS Mine Repair and Maintenance will be back and we will have snow forts for snow ball battles. Some of the carvings are interactive and there will be live ice carving demonstrations throughout the day.

There will bee free carriage or sleigh rides sponsored by the Garrett County Board of Realtors and great shopping and dining specials. There will also be live music throughout the day from performers like Day Old News and Aurora Celtic, plus some fun routines from Brenda’s Body Shop. The Oakland Historical Society will be open on Saturday from 10 am – 3 pm to offer a unique look at Oakland’s history with information and tour opportunity.

This family friendly and free event offers plenty to do for adults and children. The Front Page Stage and parking area will have face painting and hot chocolate and there will be a special art activity in The Gallery Shop, sponsored by the Ruth Enlow Library. Downtown Oakland is the home to several new shops and restaurants which will be open and participating in the event. Oakland’s three musuems will also be open and several will offer events specific to Winter Fest.
