October 2023 Issue

Dear Friends,

October…my very favorite month of the year…in SPITE of it meaning yet another birthday. The foliage comes alive this month and my favorite thing to do is travel some of our backroads and just enjoy every breath-taking moment.

Of course, we have to celebrate this show, and our Annual Autumn Glory Festival is the perfect way to do so, with activities for all members of the family. You can read more about it in our Community Spotlight starting on Page 56. The Civic Club’s  Antique and Maker’s Market is one of the highlights of the festival, read more about
their popular fund-raiser starting on page 68. You can check out our full calendar of events beginning on Page 22.

Because October also signifies the beginning of Halloween season, be sure to check out Collen DuBose’s fun feature highlighting some of the “hauntings” of Western Maryland.

Our business spotlight shines on The Locked Door and Locked Door Express this month, two fun adult novelty stores in our area as well as AH Holland Homes, one of the premier log home builders in the area. If you’ve ever dreamt of building a log home, Art is the man to call. Read more about these businesses starting on Page 38 and 42 respectively.

Of course, Mike Fratz chimes in on some of his fun experiences the past month, see page 56 for all the latest.

Whatever your pleasure this fall, be sure to enjoy autumn’s splendor!
