As one of the oldest operating restaurants in the area, The Manor Steakhouse has a storied history. From the beautiful mahogany wood accents to the original Tiffany stained glass, the building itself, a post-Civil War Victorian mansion, has an ambiance of grace and beauty. The home was built in 1868 as a private family residence for the Lambert family, a prominent Washington DC judge. It had various owners over the years but has been run as a restaurant since the early 1960’s. In 2018, a group of local residents invested in this beautiful space and proceeded to put it back to its former glory. “ It has been a labor of love to see The Manor sparkle again and we really feel that we are saving a huge treasure of our area’s history as we continue to restore this building!”, said Jim Bailey, Board Chair of The Manor Steakhouse.
The setting, on several acres in the town of Oakland, make a beautiful backdrop for outside and inside dining and it is well worth the drive from near and far to enjoy this picturesque venue. While dining in the restaurant is a wonderful experience, there is also a charming outdoor covered veranda that can be enclosed or open depending on the weather. The front porch is perfect for an afternoon lunch or evening cocktail.
The owners and staff at The Manor were thrilled in late 2019, when they received from TripAdvisor, the “Best Steakhouse in Garrett County Award”. They are committed to ensure that their steaks are from the best sources and you can expect your steak will be cooked to perfection. After all, they are named, The Manor STEAKHOUSE!
In April, The Manor Steakhouse began its Keep Calm & Carryout Service. Each week they have offered new and delicious options for their customers while continuing in their “fine dining” tradition. The carryout service has been such that it will continue so keep The Manor in mind on those summer afternoons when you do not want to cook but want a delicious meal.
Want to have a small party or small family gathering and feel safe? One of the really exciting aspects of this beautiful estate is that they have several small, private dining rooms on the second floor. You only need ask for one of those spaces when you reserve for dining. You can then relax with those whom you feel most comfortable and enjoy your meal while letting The Manor do all the work!

The Manor Steakhouse is dedicated to following all of the COVID-19 safety guidelines as they prepare and serve your food. Your safety and that of their staff is of primary importance. Their staff has been thoroughly trained to disinfect with increased frequency high touch points throughout the restaurant. They have eliminated unnecessary touch points and the staff will greet, serve, and deliver your food with masks and rubber gloves.

Even during the last few months of Keep Calm & Carryout, The Manor has not compromised on their commitment to fine dining. Joe Thompson, their chef, continues to find delicious menu options so that they are always updating the dining choices and adding special items to keep even the most particular palette happy.
The Manor always has their signature steaks for you. The 8oz Filet and 10 oz New York Strip are grilled to perfection. They also feature popular seafood dishes as well. Jumbo Scallops, Red Snapper, and Seafood Linguine are among their entrees you might find on their menu for the week. If you are a fan of Italian food, you will love the Tortellini Alfredo with their own special alfredo sauce.
Of course, if you fancy an appetizer, they have several that are perfect starters before enjoying your entrée or you just might want to get several appetizers to share as your meal. The Manor Crab Dip is not to be missed and the Blue Cheese Steak Crostini’s are huge favorites.

The investment group that shares ownership of the restaurant are local families who came together to ensure the continuation of one of Oakland’s historical treasures. The investors include local business and homeowners. They meet often to discuss how to keep The Manor Steakhouse serving their clientele in a way second-to-none in this area. “The Manor Steakhouse has been part of Oakland history for decades,” says Kera Savage, The Manor’s Assistant Manager. “It is important to keep up the tradition of fine food at reasonable prices.” “As business owners and involved locals, we only want the best for us…we want this restaurant to continually provide outstanding food and customer service to all,” says Terry Boggs, member of The Manor’s Board of Directors.
