Sydney is the last of the six dogs that came to HART for Animals this past June after animal control officers from the Garrett County Sheriff’s Department rescued them from horrible living conditions. “We called them the ‘mud dogs’ because they were caked with mud when we first got them,” said Caroline Robison, rescue and adoption manager at HART. “It took hours to get the mud off since they spent half their lives outdoors and in a pen without a lot of attention.” They were neglected and emaciated and in need of a safe and loving environment. Sydney is still in need of a loving home.

At about 7 years old and 44 pounds, Sydney is a little shy at first, but she warms up quickly. She loves to carry around her stuffed toys, sun bathe and get brushed. Sydney is longing for someone to treat her with as much love as she is wanting to give. She is good with kids and cats, but doesn’t do well with other dogs in the same household. “We’re not sure why she’s overlooked,” says Debbie Snyder, Adoption Manager. “She really is a loving dog that deserves a forever home.”

The HART Animal Center’s Adoption Wing is a place to call home for homeless dogs and cats waiting for adoption. Happy and healthy adoptable dogs and puppies wait in the Wing’s “Dogtown” in anticipation of finding their new best friend. Cats and kittens are climbing the cat towers in “The Cattery,” showing off their agility skills to every new guest that enters their domain. The Center is located at 1265 Bumble Bee Road, Accident, MD.

If you are interested in meeting Sydney, or any other deserving dog or cat, please visit the HART Animal Center. The Adoption Wing is open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-5pm, and Wednesday 11am-7pm. Closed Sunday and Monday. For more information on these and other adoptable pets, go to www.hartforanimals.org or call 301.387.7729
