The Garrett County Arts Council Board of Directors and Staff want to wish you a happy, healthy and arts-filled New Year!

In celebration of the winter holidays, The Gallery Shop Manager, Rachel Precht, designed a “Let Your Light Shine” window space in the George K. Pittman Building (102 S. Second Street, Oakland, MD 21550). Be sure to visit Oakland’s Arts & Entertainment District through February’s WinterFest to take your photo with the colorful lantern display during the day and enjoy the twinkle lights at night!

And as a reminder, you can follow us on Facebook at our sites: @GCArtsCouncil and @TheGalleryShop for more information on what’s happening in the arts across Garrett County. We also have a new Instagram account: @seymourgarrettcountyart. Please be sure to tag us in any photos of your work! We would love to SEE MORE of what you are making.

The Gallery Shop’s next Artist Exchange will be taking place January 18-25, 2020. (We will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2020.) Current juried artists are encouraged to bring in new work during this time. The Gallery Shop is also always looking for new artists to jury in! If you are interested in showing your work, please contact Rachel at rachel@garrettarts.org for an Artist Packet & Application. Remember all two dimensional work should be framed and ready to hang (with a wire). Sawtooth hooks and D-rings are not suitable for the hanging system. Gallery wrap canvases with painted edges are acceptable and do not need to be framed separately.
The Gallery Shop is continuing to celebrate the contributions our community makes to the arts each month. In preparation for the 2020 Student Arts Fair, the Garrett County Arts Council would like to bring an additional spotlight to our teachers and their own artwork as well as the hard work they put in each year to inspire the next generation of artists and makers. Therefore, The Gallery Shop will be featuring the artwork from our local teachers and arts educators from January 26-March 16, 2020. Make sure to mark your calendars for the Garrett County Public Schools’ Student Arts Fair on Saturday, April 18, 2020!

The official arts agency of the county, the Garrett County Arts Council, Inc. is funded by Maryland State Arts Council, Garrett County Government, and through your membership support. For more information, please contact GCAC offices at info@garrettarts.org or 301-334-6580.
