AUGUST, APPARENTLY.
Looking through my camera roll, I realized I did a LOT this month.
I WENT SAILING.
After seeing Flying Scots on Deep Creek Lake for years, I actually got in one. And then I went to see where they’re made. RIGHT HERE. A tour of the Flying Scot factory made me appreciate those familiar sails on the lake a whole lot more.
Some summer nights are better with LIVE MUSIC. I caught the Little Yough Music Festival in Oakland.
Outside One of my favorite ways to spend Garrett County summer evenings.
MY FIRST REAL SNOWBALL.
We got in a DRAGON BOAT. For a fundraiser. As one does.
I volunteered at the 240 MINUTES OF MARGRAFF.
HEY SUGAR! A new bakery opened its doors, and Garrett County got a little sweeter. Also, SPRINKLES & SOURDOUGH is now open on Alder Street.
I had to investigate. For journalistic purposes, obviously.
Somewhere in the middle of all of this: I RODE MY BIKE.
I received a commendation for my work as chair of Garrett 250. After all of the planning, meetings, emails, details and one very big birthday celebration… THAT ONE FELT GOOD.
I also painted a bowl. Actually… TWO BOWLS. They’re for Garrett County’s first Empty Bowls event.
And what’s summer without the DEMOLITION DERBY?
The Fair also meant spending time talking with the people behind 4-H. Be looking for that article in a future edition of The Lakefront.
So, yeah.
